How it works

Local super-resolution

It prefers a Real-ESRGAN super-resolution model on your local GPU or CPU. If that is unavailable, it falls back to a faster enlarge-and-sharpen method.

The model runs in the browser. A usable GPU is faster. Otherwise this computer’s processor is used, which is slower.

Local vs server upscaling

Typical online tools upload the file and run the model in the cloud. PicUp keeps the work on your device, which is better for ID photos, drafts, and unreleased product shots.

Browser support

A recent Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox is required. WebGPU improves quality and speed. Older devices may run on CPU only, or use the quick fallback.

Why processing fails

A damaged image, an unsupported format, an oversized output, low memory, or closing the page can cause failure. Try another file, a lower scale, or PNG/JPG.
